  • Welcome

  • Welcome to our New Generation Montessori family! Our Vision and our campuses have been in operation since 2006 and our family is dedicated to our community with a long-standing reputation of Montessori education and involvement.

We are Arturo & Dora De La Mora, and we are very passionate about early childhood development and have been involved in education since 1998. New Generation Montessori has become our home away from home, and our students are an extension of our own family. We are honored to be a part of their growth and development, year after year, and we look forward to making a difference in their lives that is permanent. Our vision for New Generation Montessori is founded on the developed and proven method of Dr. Maria Montessori. If you take a deeper look into the Montessori philosophy, you’ll notice that every child has the opportunity to excel through their independence, and to make this happen, our classrooms are fully equipped with traditional Montessori material, accredited AMS guides and a foundation of love and respect in each and every environment.

We look forward to making you and your family part of ours!

  • Sincerely,

    Dora De La Mora

  • Biting Policy

  • Biting is a very common behavior among children birth to three years of age. Biting is a form of communication and is almost always a response to the child’s needs not being met or coping with a challenge or stressor. At New Generation Montessori, we believe in understanding the developmental stages of our students and their individual needs, we can proactively prevent many biting behaviors by the environment which we create for the children. We understand that children biting other children, is one of the most common and most difficult behaviors to deal with in group childcare settings. It can occur without warning, can be difficult to defend against, and provokes strong emotional responses in the biter, the victim, the families, and the caregivers involved. For many toddlers, the biting stage is just a passing problem. Toddlers sometimes try it out as a way to get what they want from another toddler. They are in the process of learning what is socially acceptable and what is not. They discover that biting is a sure-fire way to cause the other child to drop what they are holding so the biter can pick it up. However, they experience the disapproval of the adults nearby and eventually learn other ways of gaining possession of objects or expressing difficult feelings. For other children, biting is a persistent and chronic problem. They may bite for a variety of reasons: teething, frustration, boredom, inadequate language skills, stress or change in the environment, feeling, threatened, or to feel a sense of power.
Response to Biting - Action Plan
    When a child is bitten:
    For the biter:
    • .1. The biter is immediately removed with no emotion, using words such as “biting hurts.” We will avoid any immediate response that reinforces the biting or calls attention to the biter. Caring attention will be focused on the child who was bitten.
    • 2. The biter will not be allowed to return to work/play and will be talked to on a level which he/she can understand. “I can see that you want that truck, but we need to use our words. Our teeth are for food”
    • 3. The child will be redirected to other work/play.
    • 4. Staff will complete an incident report and notify the family of the biter when the child is picked up for the day.
    For the biter:
    • 1. Staff will separate the child who was bitten from the biter.
    • 2. Special attention will be given to comfort the child.
    • 3. Staff will administer appropriate first aid
    • 4. Staff will then complete an incident report to notify family that the child has been bitten.
    • 5. Classroom staff will confer with the director to review the context of the biting incident, whether adequate supervision was present and whether the environment contributed to the biting incident. If changes in supervision and/or environment are warranted, then those changes will be implemented.
    When biting continues:
    • 1. Classroom staff will meet with the director on a routine basis for advice, support, and strategy planning.
    • 2. Staff will chart every occurrence, including attempted bites, and indicate location, time, participants, behaviors, staff present, and circumstances.
    • 3. Staff will “shadow” children who indicate a tendency to bite, to:
Head off biting situations before they occur.
Teach non-biting responses to situations and reinforce appropriate behavior.
Adapt the program to better fit the individual child’s needs.
Teach responses to potential biting situations: “Stop” or “That hurts!”
    • 4. Staff will work together as partners with the parents of both biting children and frequent victims to keep all informed and develop a joint strategy for change.
    • 5. Teachers will hold a conference with the parents of the biting child to develop a written plan of action.
    • 6. Teachers will consider early transition of a child “stuck” in a biting behavior pattern for a change of environment, if developmentally appropriate.
    • 7. Prepare the parents of the biting child for the possibility that the child may have to be removed from the Center and help them to make contingency plans.
    • 8. If it is deemed in the best interest of the child, center, and other children, terminate the child from New Generation Montessori for the duration of the biting stage. Written warning will be given to the families before this action will be taken.
    Biting Confidentiality
In compliance with confidentiality guidelines, New Generation Montessori staff will maintain complete confidentiality of all children involved when notifying parents that their child has been bitten or bit another child.

  • Pet and Classroom Animal Participation Waiver

  • The need for students to understand and become familiar with a broad range of animals, and living organisms is important to both education and the development of an appreciation of other life forms.
If allowed by the county Health Department, during the school year, pupils may encounter various pets brought to school by students, live animals which are part of the school-approved educational programs, or live animals maintained in classrooms, as a part of various science projects or learning experiences. In some circumstances, pupils may be encouraged to touch, handle, or care for these animals as a part of the educational experience.
While dangerous animals are not permitted in the environment, any animal may at times bite, scratch, or otherwise react to human contact. Reptiles also require special care to ensure that, after handling, the hands are washed with soap and water to prevent the possibility of illness. While reasonable efforts will be made to prevent any injury or illness which could result from interacting with such animals, the possibility of an incident may still exist.
Some children and adults may be allergic or sensitive to certain types of animals such as cats, dogs and birds and, as a result of such contact, may develop a reaction which could include skin rashes or respiratory distress. This may not be evident until the first time a child handles an animal to which they had not previously been exposed. Where a child is known to have a sensitivity to a specific animal, it is important to let the school know as soon as possible so steps can be taken to minimize the interaction between the child and that specific animal.
By my signature below, I agree to allow my child to participate in hands-on learning activities which may involve handling pets brought to school by staff, vendors or other pupils, live animals brought to the classroom as a part of the learning experience, or live animals which are kept in the classroom as a part of a class project or other educational process. By my signature below, I agree to hold New Generation Montessori, the individual members thereof , and all staff, agents, employees and volunteers harmless from any kind or nature, arising out of participation in educational activities involving animals owned by staff, vendors or other pupils as well as live animals owned or authorized by New Generation Montessori for education purposes.

  • Yummy in my tummy Allergy Policy

    2020 – 2021 School Year
  • “Yummy In My Tummy” makes every attempt to provide descriptions for our Yummy dishes to enable students with dietary restrictions or allergies to make the best choices for them. Every effort is made to instruct our food production staff on the severity of food allergies, however, there is always a risk of contamination. There is also a possibility that manufacturers of the commercial foods we use could change the formulation at any time, without notice. Customers concerned with food allergies need to be aware of this risk and, if there is a severe allergy, the best option is always to pack a lunch from home.
Yummy In My Tummy will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to foods consumed, or items one may come in contact with while eating at any schools. Yummy In My Tummy also does not handle disseminating lunches to students, so your child's school must also be aware of any dietary restrictions or allergies. Parents of children with food allergies or dietary restrictions are encouraged to contact Yummy In My Tummy (954-358-2414) for additional information and/or support.
When it comes to allergies or dietary restrictions, we always advise parents to pack a lunch from home to ensure their child is receiving the appropriate items. Further, please let them know that while we are a nut- free facility and only purchase nut-free products for our Yummy Organic & Natural Meals, some of the companies we purchase products from have the following disclaimer on their products:
Manufactured on equipment that may process products containing peanuts and tree nuts (courtesy of Newman’s Own Organics)
We cannot state enough that each child’s safety is our paramount concern and, while we are so appreciative that parents are interested in taking part in our Yummy Organic & Natural Lunch Program, we want to ensure that we are the right option for them!
By signing below, I agree and understand Yummy In My Tummy’s Allergy Policy, and wish to continue with their service.
